:) I like the speed challenge idea! Maybe loosen the rules a bit and not make the color necessary?

lovely idea, but just to warn you the olympic committee tends to sue anybody who uses rings anywhere. |

Yes, that's what I thought too. If a butcher can be threatened with litigation for displaying sausages in rings, then it could be very risky to have a series of photos featuring them.

I can't see why there would be a problem. There is no commercial venture here. I read the article about the butcher and he was using the symbol to promote his business. I would think the equivalent of that would be if someone was to photograph the rings and put them on a stock photo site. |

...Why take the risk of cease and desist order or the possibility of civil litigation. Images of any ring would (in my opinion) be an acceptable substitute.
It's not like we are unaware of the issue of possible copyright infringement, so why go this route.

Have they lost their minds?
"The rules were intended to stop the big brands from getting a free ride on the Olympic good will," said Michael Payne, a former IOC marketing director who now works as a consultant.
"They were never designed nor intended to suffocate the genuine local community spirit—the florist putting up a bouquet of flowers, or the butcher doing a sign with olympic rings."

It can be viewed as an act of private-sector civil disobedience in protest of the monopolization and unreasonable exploitation of a symbol by corporate oligarchies (abetted by governments).

Point well taken...polishing the pitchfork now...
Anyone have a spare trebuchet? Mine's in the shop after last year's pumpkin chunking mishap.

Actually, all joking aside, I think you have a great idea and I think it should be done. I can't imagine that there would ever be any problems. If there are...that's just plain wrong. :)
I'm such a fan of the Olympics that I've already started to think about what to do for this. Please don't be sorry, I'm looking forward to this one!

Lets do it.
Every other shop around here has five rings in of some sort and all the owners are walking free.

I am certain that the site owners will take this matter into consideration and act accordingly.
