The reason is NOT because setzler threatened to remove his tutorials. His tutorials were removed per his request no problem, it's not like someone else can't write another one. He had nothing to do with our decision. We had already started making the rules revisions before his decision to do this, and had he been patient, I think that he would have been pleased. However, he does not (and has not) had much faith in the site council, and he chose to do what he did. Oh well, we'll live.
As for other photos "sneaking through". We changed the rules to allow editing but keeping photo integrity in mind. 'digital art' was not a big problem until recently, where we felt we needed to step in and do something. There just has to be a point where you draw the line. I don't know how to explain it other than that, but there it is. Some people got away with it, because we were (at that point) testing the grounds, so to speak. This is a fairly new thing on our site, and the 'grounds' got out of hand. We took it for granted that people would follow the spirit of the rules. Since people can't, we will just have to spell it out to you,and the new rules set will come out soon. |

I almost totally agree with you on the fact you had to draw the line somewhere, why couldnt you have drawn the line after his picture had won and then bring out the new rule set, this way no one would have got hurt and you would not have all this hassle, as really there are no grounds for his pic to be DQ'd, more than any of the other highly edited pics.
can you not agree with me on this one point?
I can very much see your point of view but I think the site councils actions where extremely harsh!
