I've got a bit of money to spend and been putting off buying good radio triggers for a while and I'm not sure which of these to get. There are two things which I like about the Flex trigger; high speed sync with my canon flashes and usb upgradable.

But when I want to shoot fast in full sun to reduce the depth of field I just slap on a ND filter and that takes care of that. The fact that it's usb upgradable seems to suggest that these things can be patched, fixed and upgraded? Aside from that, the other major difference seems to be the price, even moreso since I'm considering buying a few of them. Are they really that much more valuable? How well does the high speed sync work? And what would you get? Why are the Plus IIs more expensive than the Plus III's?

Sounds like you have it down to the 2's or 3's... The 3's are better all around. The only reason they are cheaper is because PW wants to sell a ton of them..

i have flex. its nice, but theyll probably take a year to get hyper and ettl compatible with my 5dmkiii. Given what i've learned about flash photography since day 1, i think i would buy the plus3 today if i had the choice.

If you do a lot of on location, fast paced photography and have a compatible camera, ettl and hyper are awesome features to have handy. Otherwise, not so much an advantage
