Would seem so Fred, a bit like the voting on the challenge really, I think I have only had 2 votes in the last 36 hours....

Maybe the scores aren't low enough. That always gets the people riled up.

Mine is low enough, but I have no reason to complain. I knew it would be low when I entered it.

When I entered my sand picture, I was excited, thinking it might do well and might even make my front page after the final voting tallies were in.

I submitted fairly close to closing, so I didn't have long to wait to have my dreams dashed on the sand.

Recently, I've been scoring in the 5's, but my all-time average is 4.88.

For Sand II, I started out around 4.3 and I've been clawing my way back up toward my all-time average all week.

Currently, I am sitting at 4.7458.

I've concluded four things based on this challenge:

1) I don't take very good pictures.
2) I don't have any idea what I'm doing in post processing.
3) I don't get close enough to rate a comment in most cases (I have one comment on this challenge entry, which was welcome but did not enlighten me as to why my photo is scoring in the dumper).
4) I don't have any idea what appeals to DPC voters.

If I am learning anything here, it is not showing up in my scores.

If you want feedback after voting, I will try to explain as well as possible the reason I voted what I did and my entire thought process behind that vote.

In relation to #3, I don't give comments anymore, at least when people don't ask for them or it's rare. I'd rather give critiques over at 1x where criticism is expected and welcome.

1) don't assume that because they get low scores they aren't good. Lots of fine photos don't appeal to the masses.
2) this is the place to learn
3) ask for comments after the challenge if you want the brutal truth
4) few people do. I've been here a long time and haven't figured it out yet. Ask Vawendy, she has figured it out.

Like Julianne, mine is low and I knew it would be when I entered it. I held faint hopes that it would surprise me, but it hasn't. It was a "testing a DPC theory out" sort of entry LOL

Hey, JiaBob, I would like to know why your score is so low. I will look at it after the challenge, see if I commented, then try to give some feedback if I haven't already.
