Beat me to it Kris, imo this is rather like a FS, nobody can see in your camera bag and if 28mm is your widest lens then it cannot be a dnmc shot. Sadly I think voters want to see ultra wide.

To tell the truth I don't see it as a FS, but at the same time I've only seen a couple of DNMC images.

If your widest lens is a 50mm. you can't hope to submit it and win. But 28mm. is enough to consider it a wide angle.

I wonder if the folks who entered a portrait orientation are getting especially hammered?

I'm sitting at a 5.9 and I really think my shot is better than that. Trust me I usually am stoked for a 5.9, it's .7 better than my average, but this one I really thought was a 6+ shot and now I wonder if it's just not wide looking enough.

ETA, this really makes me wish I could afford the 14-24mm. :(

If your widest is a 28 then it's not a DNMC. To me, it perfectly fits the challenge. Some voters may consider it wide enough, but then again, some may not.

I'd say your chances of winning the challenge with a 28 is analogous to entering a gun battle where one is required to bring his biggest gun, and your biggest gun is a tiny little pistol... Sure you can join, and maybe you can actually win. Best of luck :)

As someone who's a literalist concerning the challenge description, and not afraid to dish out low votes, this one can not have any DNMCs. I almost bought a 400mm f/2.8 earlier this week. My widest lens in the bag would have been 400mm. According to the challenge description, that would have been acceptable.

As a DNMC nazi, I'd like to know which entries don't meet the challenge description. As long as you shot it at the widest of whatever lens was on your camera, technically it has to meet the challenge description.

The problem is that sometimes we read TOO carefully the challenge description. Ok, the challenge description sucks, but everyone knows what is the meaning of wide angle. A 300mm. is not a wide angle, even if it's your widest lens in your bag ;)

Which is what confuses me, would it be easier if dpc dropped the rather vague description in all challenges? for the second time in a month I agree with CS and others. I shot at 17mm on a 1.3 crop body and if I had taken (say) 20 steps backwards it would have 'appeared' to be a wider image but not what I had intended. Am looking forward to seeing my vote distribution.

I agree with you. Much better without this kind of descriptions. At least for this kind of challenges. In any case I have seen very few 'not wide' entries here, so I don't see any reason for the DNMC votes..

One of my lowest ave. scores. That was mainly because I was harsh on the DNMCs. I agree there were some wonderful shots in this challenge. I gave:

7-10s
6-9s
8-8s
7-7s

You're absolutely correct. I posted this in the wrong thread. Sorry to cause confusion. Actually my average score given for this challenge was well over 6.

Wow, I really am sorry to have caused all this needless discussion. Please forgive me, and forget about it. I shouldn't have posted before I had my morning coffee. No DNMCs from me in the Wide Angle challenge.

lol Juli and nope, think this 'discussion' has been brewing since voting commenced lol. That said methinks many voters are seeing 'dnmc' shots.

I don't know what it is about this challenge but this has been the worst one in terms of voting. Is it the minimal ruleset?

Maybe though not sure why, people would choose not to vote on a minimal challenge.

Finally made it to the 50 vote check in - am sure I'd normally do that one day 2 (or sometimes 1) of voting and never done it on day 4 before.

It would be appropriate for my personal worst to be a shot I actually like.

Will this be my second brown ribbon?

Forget the 100 vote check-in I'm not sure I'll reach 75 votes at this rate.

Finally finished voting and commenting.
You have rated 85 of 85 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 85 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.8000.

Hopefully people realize most of my comments are meant to be humorous (i stated that on a bunch, even went back and blind pasted a sentence on about 1/2 without checking if they were joke or serious comments).

Got mine thanks Ryan, and a 6 I think :) Oh, and yes, understood your comment, hadn't thought of it like that lol

So far, I have 84 votes, which would tie with the lowest average votes in the history of DPchallenge. Still 9 hours left, which allows room for participation.

I beat you all (except james) for low votes.
but i'll take it as long as it doesn't lower my average score by inflating the vote count
