If you go to "my preferences," you can check the box to show your scores on the front page. They update ever hour if you're not a member and any time you want if you are a member. |

I'm a newbie here too, I was just looking through some past competitions and I like what I see. I really like the idea of this place, constant competitions to get you hooked :D. My current and first photo isn't doing too good (about 4.5), but people probably can't make it out to reach that moment of serendipity hehee :D
One thing that bugs me is that it's only digital camera's. It makes sense for a weekly contest, although my digicam is just a quick point and shooter, so I'd much rather prefer using an non-digital SLR for photos, but I guess you can't have it all. :D |

I'm with you. This site has made my life hell! I now NEED a digital SLR, but with a new Canon DSLR due out later this year or early next I must wait until then and either get that camera or a digital rebel at a closeout price. I don't know if I can wait that long...

I agree a DSLR is best but if you can't aford one there are a few good non DSLR cams. I love my F717 and for me it is enough for now. There are alot of non DSLR winners here on DPC. |

Okay, so I just read through the rules more carefully (skimming is bad!) and didn't see anything about not chatting about current contests (although it makes perfect sense). Any other unpublished rules I should know about? |

You can chat about current challenges in a generic way. Just should not be specific in talk about your or any other entry.
We like to keep anonymous during voting.
Yes, skimming is bad :P .. glad you read thru the rules. That is the biggest thing.
Welcome to the site! Have fun! |

I've just got a question. What do you win if your photo is judged well?
Is it the satisfaction of being first, or something else. I'm satisfied with the former, but I was just wondering if there's any other motivation behind this? |
