As a challenge topic? ...it's just crazy enough to work!
A stretch for me, but +1 |

I'm not sure if this is a challenge suggestion or not because you only included links, but since you posted it here, I'm going to assume it is.
Here are my 2 cents. This challenge has the great potential to be very offensive to folks with disabilities if done incorrectly. You have to realize that a LOT of the people who were (and still are) put in asylums, state hospitals, institutions, etc. were people with disabilities, not "crazy folk", and these places were not a nice place to live. People were mistreated, abused, raped, etc. If this does become a challenge, I just ask that people aren't creating images of the "crazies" who live in asylums and keep it to a more accurate historical depiction. |

It is a challenge suggestion. If you view the haunting and vivid images he has shot they are of empty buildings, both interior and exterior, and so should be the challenge. No people. |

Why not open ones (with people)? That would be a lot more fun. :) |

You mean a real one... and not a virtual one like DPC. :O)

I don't have a problem if the challenge would stick to that type of image (I would actually participate if that was the challenge), but I have a feeling some participants would take it too far. As for taking pictures at state hospitals that are still open and have residents, that is one of the most disrespectful things I've ever heard. I hope you were making a bad joke. If you were shooting photos for a newspaper article or something to educate people about these places (and have their permission), that is one thing, but to take photos of people institutionalized just to get a cool picture is terrible. |

Well, it was a joke. Whether it was bad or not is a matter of opinion. :P |
