Not naughty as much as unobservant. My Color Efex filter had a vignette on by default and I missed turning it off. Of course, I edited and submitted this final one in the final seconds of the submission period. And woke up this morning realizing what I'd done.
I reported myself. Awaiting shackles. |

Here you go. People were only talking about how good the votes were, no mention of any troll. Then you show up, and advertises once again about how a bad guy you are: "And conversely, I'll stick to my routine. I'm the "Stabilizer" of vote inflation."
ETA: the word "troll" was technically employed once just above your post, but no direct complain about such vote was mentioned.

Oh! is color efex not illegal in basic anyway I would have thought it was in any circumstance but would love to know if I have that wrong.

I don't think so... I read and re-read the rules for Basic to make sure. It was applied to the whole image (and was just a color pop more than anything) |

All I see is one person trying SOOOO hard to make his vote count more than anybody elses', by whatever means "legal", and to make sure we all know it. Dude - your choice of what is the best is all fine and dandy - don't you trust the rest of us to have OUR choices as well, and as an overall average to come up with the best pictures in the challenge? Do you think that by loading down the other "really good" pictures in the challenge with 1s and 2s and 3s that YOUR vote will more highly influence the final outcome than ours do, and give you a little extra ego boost? You tell us with this lazy, shortcut voting strategy that ONLY your choice of "best" matters to you , and the rest of us can all go fly a kite. I'm glad the majority care more about photography and developing skill and satisfaction across the membership than they do about having voted for the winner.
Nuff.
Still running 6.3+ with 40 votes. I guess the 2 and the 3 voters don't care enough to render a realistic evaluation of "macro" and "green". |

I don't think the Color Efex is permissible under basic.
One of the rules states: No “effects” filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur. |

Need a ruling, because I read that and this was not an "Effects" filter, but a color processing filter...
Definitely a blur there...
Regardless, I'm DQed because of at the very least the Vignette. |

I'd be interested in the reading of this too... I'm not familliar with "Color Efex", but I do like the shadows/hilights tool and even the new HDR feature. Though because I don't think it treats the whole image equally (IE, it treats the light and dark areas differently), I don't think it's legal.
Though, on the flip side, isn't "selective color" a legal layer in basic? |

topaz, color efex, silver efex, etc are legal in basic. However, you have to be very careful with them. They have to be applied to the entire image, and you can't use things like vignettes, darken/lighten center, etc. and they must be used subtly so they don't become a feature.

Across the board.
(Although I gave ALOT of high scores in this one as well - nicely done, people!) |
I think I entered my shot in the wrong challenge, judging by the dismal score :(
knikki I would love to know what you gave me :) & :(

well said. it is all about the selective application of edits, either directly by the user (eg, lasso tool or control point) or by the program (eg., vignette or darken/lighten center). I believe I am correct in saying that applying something like "glamour glow" would be legal because it is in effect really just a sophisticated level/curve & saturation adjustment applied to ALL the highlights in an image (again, assuming no control points or selection tools are used).

So by extension would you also say that the "shadow/highlight" function is legal? It effectively selects only the shadows or highlights and affects only those regions... but it's "applied" to the entire image... ? |
