I don't feel like an extra and I'm quite sure he doesn't consider us like extras. But I feel lucky to be here with him and some other interesting guys. I learnt a lot during these months. Christophe is an example that many people should follow. He's a smart and creative guy who constantly tries to improve. Everyone should do it not only here but in life in general. |

You may want to clear this with everyone's spouses first. :P

Actually there are a few others taking the idea in completely different directions. They should be valued properly...

Be assured I don't consider anyone as an extra. Also, I'm sorry if you feel like I'm giving a show, it is really not my intention: in fact I'm not very talkative, so it would be a boring one ;)
Seriously, lots of great photographers here, many I admire and wouldn't dare to compare to. Even if you want to use DPC ribbons as a scale (which is not that relevant as we know), I'm far from leading this year race. I may have currently a slight advantage regarding complex processing, simply because I studied it a lot during the last months: I wanted to present my pictures in other challenges and websites than DPC, and you better be decent at processing to stand a chance in many of those. I'm sure people willing to learn will cope very quickly, and probably become better too. |

I was just kidding. The joke was, if everyone was like gyaban (i.e. spend a lot of time shooting and editing) they would have no time to spend with their family.

9 blues from the last 10 challenges is rather impressive at any level. |

That was what I had understood but I was afraid of some hidden meaning in the English language :) |

Nice camera. I hope there's a mirrorless version for those who aren't strong enough to handle a 5DMK3:)

Was it Dicky 3rd who said that? I'd rather have a horse than a ribbon anyway. Besides which, we should meet up soon and have a shoot.
I just got back from Paris and all of Gyabans ribbons are decorating the street of the Champs Elysees, however, I did notice a few gaps so Im sure he will get a few more this year.
Seriously though, 9/10 blues is not bad, most are for expert editing but still.
My next goal is to score a blue in a minimal challenge but we don't see many of those. |

Sounds a little as if you are suffering from a thing called jealously ?
Can't see any other reason for this remark. |

I would like to see how he would fair in the jmritz challenge. The man has talent, so I'm sure he would do well. An artist is an artist.

I'll try to answer this from my perspective.
Right now, in most challenges, I give him a 1 or 2 vote. Personally, I really dislike the over the top processing, so much so, that I don't even view it as photography. We can debate this in another thread, but I'm left wondering if I'm the only one who thinks along these lines. Based on the comments he receives, I know I'm not, so I'm befuddled as to how he always wins. From my perspective, it has nothing to do with jealousy but confusion.
I should point out I use my vote as a ranking system. The photos I do not want to see win I gives a vote of 1, and move up through the ranks until I hit 9. So I do give extremely low votes to technically flawless images if I don't like them. Again, not the thread to debate this in, send me a PM if you feel the need to voice an opinion.

I think I can take a reasonably good photograph, but I will never compare to gyaban because he is not only a competent photographer but an artist. |

A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity. |
