how do they get decided?
seems to me that there are many suggestions and some get used and some don't just wondering are they computer generated? Lately they have been very specific and quite hard IMO, I'm not complaining, just curious. |

| I think Drew and/or Langdon decide. If it were automated, you wouldn't see the delay we see (sometimes until the next morning) to assign the next one. |

All of the suggestions are put in the "Challenge Database" by the SC's or admins. A thoughtful, well-worded "details" section helps in getting the challenge added to the database. We can add challenge ideas without details, but they won't move to the "Approved" state (something D&L are in charge of) until there are reasonable "details" to go along with the topic.
There are a fair number of suggestions currently in the database (enough to last for a while, especially if we "revisit" old challenge topics.) Of course, we are always looking for cool new ideas that would lead to some great pictures, especially those that can be considered "technique" challenges.
Sometimes D&L forget to schedule a challenge from the database before the next challenge, and that is why there is an occasional delay. Nobody really knows how D&L pick the next challenge from the "approved" list except them. |
