Well, whatever it is, it seems to be lying flat on a table in a room painted a light color, with a large window at on end ;-)
But by the look of it it has been used outdoors.

Handle for a valve of some kind? Maybe the control valve for a radiator type heating system. I haven't seen many heaters of that type, as I have lived in Florida most of my life, and we don't have those here. It just looks like it would be part of that sort of plumbing, and a very old one at that.
Another good candidate would be that it's a gas valve for a stove or heater.
ETA, Congrats on being chosen Member of the Week kirbic !

Oh, Fritz is member of the week? Awesome! Congrats.
For the item...
It is laying flat but is normally upright. It's kind of old, maybe about 40 years and mainly used indoors, specifically in a certain room.
Not every home has one but a lot do. But, what it produces, every home has. |

Yea! Thanks. But it was a Bear-Click (!) team effort as Robert bear_music pointed out on Sunday evening that the other settings on the dial were probably "Fine" and "Coarse" and thus it was likely a grinder of some sort. We'll (as a team!) come up with the next object, but it'll be an hour or so.

OK. Here it is. This particular item has a very specialized use. We are looking for a very specific answer! Good luck.

No to both of those; not a grinding disc or a filter media. |
