Way to go Anita! Maybe this could be your time for a ribbon.
Well I thought I was a contender for a ribbon too. The brown when I hit 4.3100 at 13 votes. But then I've had a bit of a turn around with a nice positive comment. Haven't got time to do the maths but there must have been some decent scores withe the last 4 votes.

I am refraining from voting because I'm not familiar enough to judge based on the challenge rather than which ones I think are pretty.
You're welcome.
(But can I just say - there are some seriously awesome pics up there!) |

Thanks Phil, but I actually doubt it will even be in the TT by the time it's finished, loads of amazing pic's in this challenge, so enjoying the ride ATM.

Dropping faster then what I was rising now. 10 votes ago I was at 6.6250
This morning after 6 votes I was at 5.8 then went right up to 6.6250
Weird and it happens like this in most challenges these days...extreme ups and downs, almost like the voters don't know what they want or are looking for.

...Or the voters know and feel strongly about what they want and are looking for, but what that is varies among them. So our scores jump around a lot until they start to reflect what the "average" combined votes of all those different views will be. Even then it can still change, but usually not quite as much :-). |

You are probably right but then it still hardly explains why the drastic ups and downs. One would think that the score would sort of hang around the average that it will end up with at end of voting with less drastic ups and downs.
Anyway I dropped below 6 again since my last post:

Well, that and the number of votes that the score is based on. For example we know that on average a "fairly" flipped coin, after enough flips will end up with about 50% showing the head side, but have you noticed how after 10, 15, 20, 25 flips etc. it can deviate from that percentage quite significantly. Try it and you can get long runs of all heads or all tails in a row, and the percentage of heads goes up and down before the number of flips is large enough that those "runs" don't affect the overall percentage quite so much. That's why statistical testing of data always takes the number of data points into account when assessing what the numbers mean.

Huge ups and downs here, as well. I assume it's because people see Ansel Adams in different ways.
Started at 5.37 after 8 votes, up to 6.52, at 6.333 now.
I like the 6.33 much better than the 5.37. :) |

Not so great but I did not expect much as I was unable to get up in the mountains like I had planned. Still I like the shot I did take, just not dynamic enough for DPC. |

Thanks Brent, I just was hoping I might encourage the low voters to say why.
I did get one person to bite... and I agree with the comment.
It's hard to do Ansel in the city and, as it happened, in a week with virtually no cloud cover. I almost didn't enter, but instead I entered the best I could come up with. I still like the picture... I think. |
