I have a friend that was raised here in New Orleans and is in the Air Force. He was previously stationed in Shreveport and San Antonio but his recent assignment has him in Nebraska, been there about a year now. I just got off the phone with him and he was taking about how much he is missing the crawfish boils that we always have around here. I want to send him some goodies from home that he can't get where he is at. So, if you don't live in the South can you please tell me if you've heard of these products and of you can readily get them at your local grocer. I want to get him stuff that he cannot buy there but probably misses. If you are from the area give me some more ideas of local foods that are unique to New Orleans that I can send him.
Community coffee and chicory
Lazy magnolia beer
Zatarans products
Zatarans crab boil (powder)
Cafe du monde beignet mix
Blue Runner red beans in a can
Tony chacheres seasoning
Louisiana fish fry
I'll probably add more as I think of them. |

We can get the Zatarans products here; some of 'em anyway, especially the Crab Boil. "Here" = Cape Cod...

I live in Wales, UK and you might as well be listing Klingon ingredients. I mean, seriously, what the hell is all this stuff?
I did originally read Blue Runner red beans as Blade Runner red beans which sounded cool as hell though. |

Community Coffee (with or without chicory) is some of the worst stuff on the planet. Better off with a premium French Roast and instructions for making cafe au lait. I've ordered chicory from Sweet Maria's before, but places like Whole Foods might stock it.
What about CDM beignet mix? |
