What am I not seeing here? When I upload high res photos to a Flickr Pro account, I can set them to private. Which means I could basically operate my own cloud storage. Flickr says unlimited storage. Really???

What am I missing here if I wanted to use this as unlimited cloud storage?

Because you can only upload pictures and short videos. It's unlimited photo storage. Stop paying and you only have access to your last 200 uploads, and you can't access the full size.

Well, there are limitations on file size... In any case, it's an awfully cumbersome way to get files in "the cloud." And if you look hard enough in the TOS, I'm sure you can find something about abuse.

I don't see any limitations on file size on my pro account. I can upload a fullsize file. And I can shift+select an entire folder for easy mass upload.

The file size limit is 50MB for pictures, and 500MB for videos.

Isn't that 50mb per picture??

So let me re-phrase and call it a cheap means of backup for $25 per annum

For $50 or so a year you can use Backblaze and back up a whole lot more then some photos and videos. I currently have 2 tb on my backup.

Thanks Matt! I'll look into that. Was a bit turned off when I saw dropbox's prices.

Another very satisfied Backblaze user. In addition, with Backblaze you can also back up your external drives.

Never heard of Blackblaze though.

Well, now you have. I'm also a very happy Backblaze user for probably a year now.

Backblaze saved my bacon when my hard drive crashed.
