Just wondered if anybody else is headed to Utah for the annular eclipse. scarbrd and I will be joining three other friends of mine and hanging out from Thursday to Sunday night. Should be a great time of landscape photography, astrophotography, and trying to find that perfect location where I can frame the eclipse against a landscape background. David will have his new 4/3rds camera and I finally ordered a nodal rail for panoramas. |

I'll be the one not weighed down with heavy unwieldy obsolete camera equipment!
Really looking forward to the trip!

Wow, that really sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could be there with my heavy outdated gear even (he he), but just can't make it there.
Hope you get the shots you are hoping for, enjoy! |

Won't be able to make it to Bryce canyon, but I'll be able to see it here on the morning of the 21st. |

Hmmm, I got my Acratech Nodal Rail from B&H today and realized, I have no way to attach it to my tripod. It looks like you need an arca-swiss compatible head that will either allow the quick release plate to slide all the way through or you need a special quick release clamp that will do that and then attach THAT to your arca-swiss compatible head. Either way, suddenly the inexpensive solution to nodal point problems is much more expensive. Plus I'm running out of days before I leave.
Hmmm. Pondering what to do. |
