I'm sitting on a 4.75 after almost 24 hours. I think you should start on your symmetric entry. And good luck moving forward! ;D

I hope you can find the time somehow Deb. Currently sitting at 5.157 and I don't think it will recover from the negative and 'meh' votes.

How you doing SEG? I'm sitting at + .0024 at the moment... at least based on my current average. Has anyone got an official word on whether they're based on the time of rollover at each challenge or rather the average at the beginning of the challenge?

looks like I may be out this round, it is right under my average as of now.

I'm in the same boat as you. Currently .08 under.
I think it's gonna be down to the wire.

Last year it was based on the average at the beginning of the challenge, and I recall Paul told us it was this year. BTW: If you are interested in a way to figure out what this average is, for yourself or anyone else, look at the first set of results that Paul posted on Monday. He listed the difference between your starting average and your score on the Upside Down challenge next to your name. This difference is (Starting Avg - Upside Down score).( Upside Down score - Starting Avg) This was the wrong way around but what follows *was* correct

So you can get Starting Avg as follows: Starting Avg = Upside Down score - the "difference" shown in Paul's post, but note that subtracting a negative number is numerically equivalent to adding that number.

Example:
The difference that Paul posted for me was -0.0646. My Upside Down score was 5.6147.

Thus the starting average that Paul is using for me is 5.6147 - (-0.0646), which is the same as 5.6147 + 0.0646 which is 5.6793 (Only slightly different from my current average, but it may get further apart as I enter more challenges)

I know this doesn't answer your concern about getting an "official word", but that is how is was done last year, and I figured this might be a useful reminder of how it works.!!

If the statements by PennyClick are correct then I am +.1772 ahead of my average.

If it is the current average then it would be +.1708

That would put us at almost the same exact score in the challenge. 5.4xxx. In the last round my opponent beat me in the challenge by 1 place but I won the side challenge. Could happen again.

Please note that I corrected my initial post but only after mrshhas posted and included the incorrect version. The method for getting the starting average was written correctly. The definition I posted of the "difference" that Paul provides had the two terms the wrong way around....

Corrected: This difference is ( Upside Down score - Starting Avg)

Thanks!!

How are you doing Deb?

I got slapped with another 1 and am now down below a 5.

Yep - your average was 'harvested' on the Friday before the first challenge was announced. That stays fixed throughout the competition.

Cheers

Paul

I'm actually below my remarkably low (4.6xx) average, so all that limbo training appears to be paying off exactly how I hoped it wouldn't...

I'm up against Brent_S this round, I'm looking forward to seeing what fantastic image he has entered for this challenge!

Wait a minute, I had things off with my earlier response to you Trisha :P It appears we may have a tight race after all. I have never seen such an erratic score on an entry, but it appears mine wants to average about .3 below my average. Although I expect yours is likely still rising to a victory, it seems I should start thinking about a symmetry entry too- just in case :)

Hope you come up with a good idea for symmetry- it's early, but my score has gone down by .1 over the course of the day.

Wishing that the voters have been a little kinder to you too over the last day Trisha so we can really make this a photo finish ;) I'm a smidge over my average now with 49 votes in. Still early I know...

Joshua, how's your score doing?
I'm still floating around my average. Goes above, then drops below...repeat. Been like this pretty much from the start.

Same with mine. Currently just over my average as I type this but it has been going above and below.

Looks like we both better have something ready for Symmetry then. It's going to a be close one.

PennyClick, my Empty image is running -0.67. Underappreciated and stable at a low level. Unliked by the voters. I don't expect a miracle recovery. I have submitted for Symmetry in Nature. But, you will still be in this side-challenge competition and I will not.

Thanks for the information, Richard, and I'm sorry to hear the voters are not being kind, but I look forward to your symmetry in nature image anyway, and to the many other excellent nature images you post. My Empty image climbed a little and is now -0.09 relative to my starting average. I have not taken any symmetry in nature images yet and it's pouring outside and expected to be doing so for the next 36 hours..

Oh, boy... It'll be a poetic face-off in the next round then. :-) Better warm up those iambs and trochees! NO free verse for this one, sorry... It's not symmetrical :-)
