So I am looking for a Canon FF body and it seems like used 5d Mk II are so expensive, it make sense to just buy a new one. On the other hand, the original 5d can be had locally off of CraigsList for around $700. So which one you'd think will be a better choice, ignoring new or improved features of Mk II of course. Is a used 5d that owner claims had about 30K actuations and has original box and all a good bet? TIA.

I stepped up from 20d to 5d and wow :) so impressed with it but 5d mk11 is on my wish list now because I shoot lots of low light gigs
Haven't looked what you've got but I had 3l lens before I upgraded always better having good glass over a body, pretty much holds it value and a mk11 will show up any poor glass you have.
Just looked you do realise your ef-s lens will be useless on full frame leaving you with an 85mm and a fish eye
I'd buy glass first then upgrade your body 24-105 or 24-70 ls be my choice then a 70-200 f4 to be upgraded later on or go down the sigma dx route

Biggest problem you have is your 2x EF-S lenses will not be compatible with either the 5D or the 5D2 so you will need to factor in new lenses.
I have owned a 5D and it was an amazing camera, a little dated now with only 12mp but it still produces amazing results and for IQ over budget / consumer high MP cameras I would still rather have the 5D any day.
Not used the 5D2 but I can say the 5D3 is AMAZING!

Oh forgot to update my profile but recently i got the 35/2 as well. I had a 50/1.4 (and 1.8) as well but got rid of it, i just love the 60/2.8 - i am planning to keep a crop body as a 2nd body thus can still use EFS lenses. And yes i agree - better lenses before better body. I am pretty happy with my primes: 35, 60, 85. I can add a 50 if needed. Not sure if i'd be happy with zooms as i switched to primes. Also my primary work is kids portraits folloewed by still life.

I read that the 35mm 2.0 doesn't work too well on a full frame
