Today is a day that I am embarrassed to say I am from Texas. I couldn't even fathom the atrocities that have been discovered just East of here. Some may say it isn't that big a deal, but the implications for an entire people as well as the rest of us is far reaching. This goes way beyond animal mutilation and would almost (IMHO) be considered a racial act due to the significance for the Lakota Sioux people. I was saddened to tears for this senseless loss.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE??!!
Thoughts?

Oh Kat, this article moved me to tears also. I hope they catch whoever killed those buffalo and give them the stiffest penalty possible. Unfortunately, it won't be stiff enough. :-( |

I hope they catch whoever did it. Skinned as well, sounds like someone went there with intent. Are we assuming it's a white guy?

some people are just cruel. I agree to hunting for food...but not killing an animal just to kill it....

Not necessarily...just that the significance of the white buffalo to the native american people is HUGE and almost beyond comprehension for the rest of us. It wasn't just A buffalo (and mom), but a WHITE BUFFALO calf. Here is a little bit of info. and there is so much more you can find on this. I grew up around the Sioux and they are a very proud, very strong people and they firmly believe in their ways, so this kind of hit home in a small way. The act of this slaughter to them goes beyond the obvious...
To make my original point, growing up in SD when one deer hunted, you walked and tracked deer to find one. In Texas, they feed them all summer long, get them fat and secure in their surroundings, then go sit in a blind and blast their ass! There's a sportsman (from Texas) for ya! It is........is........maddening! Ugh! |

I worry that it was a hate crime. Otherwise I see no reason for killing the mother, as well. It feels like a "there's no way there can be another one with the mother also dead" type of statement. |
