If you ticked the I depth critique box it will happen after the challenge ends, or alternatively after the challenge ends post a forum post in the individual photography critique section nit asking for feedback |

I've not voted on anything all week yet, but in with my boy tonight so I'll have a vote marathon :) |
You need to look up irony in a dictionary. Nothing ironic about it.
Legit voting and commenting based on the challenge theme is not trolling at all.
And "karma" is not a reality.
Grow up.

He's just not as lenient as others on challenge fit. He nailed my "Dallas" entry, and he was right. This is why we can't just turn every topic into a freestudy. (Shoehorning is a fine art that takes some practice to get right. It doesn't always pass muster.)

Beg to differ.
Situational irony is the disparity of intention and result: when the result of an action is contrary to the desired or expected effect. Being "shot with one's own gun", or "hoisted with one's own petard" are popular formulations of the basic idea of situational irony.
So, IF you were trolling, then these complaints about trolls would be ironic. Personally, I don't think you're a troll, but I'm a sucker for putting my oar in when I see a semantic dispute :-)

I'm okay with this. My average score in the last 10 or so challenges has been inching up, so maybe I can squeeze into a top ten by the end of the year... |

However, you just made MY point.
A troll (here) is someone who is just casting low votes with no rhyme or reason.
I have never done that and he was implying that I was with his use of "ironic" -- so he was incorrect in its use.
My voting patterns are not trolling and offering comments that he childishly calls "patronising" (sic) is far above what a troll would do.
Yes, if I were trolling and likewise complaining about trolls -- that would be irony. But in his own whine, he makes it clear that I cannot possibly be a troll (since I give reasons), yet still implies in another statement that I am.
As Yo_Spiff so stated, I'm just "not as lenient as others on challenge fit." -- this is an accurate statement. Pointing out that something did not meet the challenge does not make you a DNMC "Nazi" or whatever other bullying tactic the touchy-feely crowd want to use to stifle criticism.
A challenge theme should be as black and white as the challenge description make it. Nothing more or less. When there is room for grey areas, so be it. I used to only give 1s if they didn't mean the challenge theme. I since altered to a -3 penalty as a fairer means to properly penalize those who in many cases blatantly ignore the theme.
That said, my "straight" entry DOES have some areas that people could interpret as curves. I even noted so in my entry description.
I just wish the people here who cast any vote lower than a 5 (5.5 is average, so 6+ is a good "vote") would have the stones to jot a quick note as to why they didn't like the photo. |

Ditto... I keep bopping above and below 6 as well.
Like I said, mine has some curves that based on other challenge winners should go unpunished, but are probably getting some DNMC vibes -- which is legit since the theme is NO curves. |

But it occurred to me on the way to grab lunch that technically you cannot DNMC in the Straight Challenge... no matter how hard you try. All the pixels are square so even the curves are illusions. :) |

The bit about the touchy-feely crowd made me lol. So now I'm wondering which side of the touchy-feely fence I'm on...and which side of the DNMC-nazi fence.....and I realize it's possible to be a touchy-feely nazi. |
Sounds like it should be in "The Producers" :) |

Wow... just voted... it was pretty painful.
Images were either boring or they were inundated with curves.
Only managed to give a handful of 6s and 7s this go round...(no pun intended) |

The score is not unexpected but my only comment, received in the first hour of the challenge, is. I thought it might of generated a bit more interest. But then again, there doesn't seem to be much interest in this challenge at all based on the action in this thread. |
