Greetings! I have just purchased a Canon 430EXII Speedlite. I thought that I would be able to wirelessly trigger the flash off the camera shoe (on a lighting umbrella setup) using the camera's (Rebel Digital XT) IR functionality. I could not get it to work and from what I'm reading, it seems that this is not possible. Apparently a master-capable speedlite is required on the camera shoe to allow firing the 430 as a slave off camera.
Is this correct?
And are these my options? --
- Use a shoe cable to attach the 430 (mounted on a stand) to the camera shoe (and then it would work as if it were on top of the camera but will use the camera's TTL metering info)?
- Pocket Wizard type RF wireless trigger setup?
Thanks for your help!

Yongnou RF-602's or 603's have a reputation as reliable and cheap.I have the 602's myself. Only drawback is they are not TTL compatible, so manual exposure only.
Plenty of dealers on ebay offer them, though I prefer to buy them from Yongnou's own store, or from someone who stocks them in the US, if I need them faster.
