OK, this is weird. I was watching a Green Woodpecker in my garden pulling at worms and pointed my cam to the ground to lock the exposure and accidently took a pic that produced the below - would this be serendipitous?
In reality, all but the accidental shooting is true. My point is this, how are people going to be voting on this? I can see many more of the "does not meet the challenge" as photogs can't explain the story behind the pic.

It doesn`t matter what you do on here, people are too willing to under vote on your picture in a hope to bring the average down. I look for originality and context not always the perfect picture. I have shown many of my photos to my friends and then showed the final score after on 3 occaisions to the disgust of the foresaid friends. They agreed that the pictures weren`t the best in the comp. but valued higher that the scores they have been getting... Just be fair |

I almost put this in as my entry for Serendipity but decided after all the fuss over flags this past week decided against it. Not sure anyone would have considered it serendipitous. I do.

How so? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm being curious. |

I'm sure someone can (and will) come up with an excuse to put their flag into every challenge - and as the majority of voters are going to be American a technically sound shot of the old stars 'n' stripes will never end up with the brown ribbon.
Doesn't actually make it fit the challenge though :-) |

That thread is for the Strength Challenge but there is the mention that there are too many US Flags used for a lot of the challenges. That is all I meant to say. And I like the picture I took so I thought I̢۪d find some silly reason to post it. :) |

As someone frequently aligned (ideologically) with people perceived to be anti-(US)flag, I'd just like to note that I personally have no objection to people using the flag as a subject to creatively communicate their theme, and don't think people need be dissuaded from using it for their entries.
I think it's important (at DPC) to separate the quality of the photo, and the effectiveness with which the message is communicated, from the content of the message. I've even been known to use it as a subject myself ... |

Paul I̢۪m sorry I even mentioned the subject (flags) because it might have the effect of opening a can of worms. I love my country but I love the Earth more and I love the Life on our planet the most. Politics are a subject we just LOVE to spout. It is fun to argue once in a while, I mean DEBATE. :)
Paul I really like your photographs.
