Ok...granted, I am brand new here...but one thought hit me immediately!
I am willing to bet that almost every single person here hs gone out and taken a shot that they REALLY love, but that they can't use in a contest because it was taken just a day or two before the contest opened. We all know that it's not always as easy as just going back to get the shot again.
So...what about a contest where we are allowed to grab a shot that he have taken in the past, and enter it into the contest. The theme, outside of that, can be anything really. Maybe it could even be something that is recurring...sort of like "Time Capsule - Nature" one time...and "Time Capsule - Sunsets" another time. It could be seldom enough that we don't use it as a crutch. I think I get that the intention of forcing us to take the shot AFTER the contest begins, is that we're inspired by the contest to get out there and search out the topic/theme...and I think that's terrific...but this will also allow us to show off some shots we all have in on our hard drives, that we'd never otherwise be able to enter in contests.
Anyway...just my humble idea....ugh...time for work....later! |

We do ocassionally have challenges with looser date restrictions. There is always a "best of" challenge for shots from the preceding year, and once in a while we will see a "hidden gem" challenge. (Not to be confused with the hidden gem side challenge, which is just a discussion thread.)

There are also side "challenges" with differeing themes, and no ribbons. However, they are an excellent place to post images that just don't "fit" elsewhere.
