Watched that this past Saturday.
Best movie I've seen in a LONG time.
Gonna go watch American Reunion this weekend. Can't wait!
Movie night is our (me and my hubby) date night. :)

"West Side Story" -- in the musical genre it doesn't get much better. And there's a nice irony in having one of the all-time great love stories (Romeo & Juliet redux) set against a background of urban ethnic gang warfare be the creation of four middle-aged gay white men. |

Black Swan. Very cool little psychodrama, strong story, with some amazing fx. 9/10 as I feel the relationship with an uber-controlling Mommy is a little over the top. |

The Hunger Games 8/10
As with all good books, the movie can't totaly tell the story... I missed a lot, BUT I feel if you hadn't read the book you might not have like this at all... They really did a great job Matching what you thought a character would look like to who they choose to play the part. I thought the "Arena" was done perfect to the book. |

i as well saw the hunger games. I didn't read the books and thought it was a really good movie. I thought that the first part of the games were a little too gory for me, but over all really nice job!
8/10 as well |

21 Jump Street - 8/10 Very enjoyable, lots of fun, did NOT recognize Peter Deluise! Maybe a few too many dick jokes, but you still had to laugh. Channing Tatum can do more than dance (though he does that pretty well, just not in this movie.) |

Saw this movie recently and was pleasantly surprised. The characterization of Ip is just thoroughly enjoyable. Charming movie. 8 |

Sucker Punch 7/10
Fun, imaginative storytelling. A highlight for me was the use of Bjork's "Army of Me" as the soundtrack for one of the story-within-a-story interludes. |

This was a Kung-Fu filled weekend.
Ninja Terminator - 10/10
This movie is so terrible, it's good. If you're looking for continuous WTF moments, this is the movie for you. If this trailer doesn't make you want to watch the movie, nothing will.
Ip Man - 10/10
Good for all the opposite reasons listed above.
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin - 8/10
Once Upon A Time in China - 7/10
Crazy Guy with Super Kung-Fu - 6/10

Not for everyone, it tends to drag a bit. But the ending is awesome. |

The Bang Bang Club 8/10
Gritty, violent true story about 4 young photojournalists documenting the township civil war in South Africa at the end of the apartheid era in the early 90's. Gripping. |

Kung Fu Panda 2 - 7/10 amazing animation, good story, amusing
Moneyball - 9/10 great acting, well written.
Mission Impossible 4 - 7/10 entertaining however in real life, Ethan would have died from brain injuries 1/4 of the way through the movie.
Horrible bosses 8/10 - I found it funny.
Crazy Stupid Love - 6.5/10 it was ok, not bad, not great. |

Martha Marcy May Marlene - 9/10
An excellent movie. I'd say inspired by Charles Manson and his 'family' it focusses on Martha Marcy May Marlene (her name is made up of her birth name, the name the cult leader gives her and the generic name that all female cult members use when answering the phone) as she runs away from the cult commune and goes to stay with her sister and brother in law. The film could so easily be another formulaic thriller but it is far from it. It's a fascinating study of the abuse of power and what it means to be 'normal'. The safe world of Martha's wealthy architect sister and normal society turns out to be just as controlling and restrictive in it's own way as the commune was. The performances are stunning and the film looks wonderful shot in a kind of subdued golden glow. Just as great is the editing and sound design which is wonderfully jarring. |

Savages 6/10. Watchable, but a disappointment. Hard to care about the characters and what happens to them. A quickly forgotten movie. |
