This is a form of art, photographed with only 'the art' as a subject. In your opinion, should this be DQ'ed from a challenge?
Please note that I did not take any of these shots.
These shots are by Jeff Schewe
Here's another:

depends... on how it was done. if it is a photograph of a painted had, then perhaps it would be DQ'd based on teh 'no art' rule. If it is a PS composite, the the basic rules would not allow it.
Many on this site are photo oriented and disfavor digital art images. So those folks would not vote this very highly I would think.

Milton:
Those shots are by Jeff Schewe. I've met Jeff, and seen, in person, how these images were created. They are created from multiple images by very complicated layering processes in Photoshop, and are not DPC legal. The "hand" photo was created as a brochure cover for Miles Diagnostics and is a composite of two images: one of the hands, and another of a regular ol' globe. Jeff then expertly blended the two images together to create the "skin painting" effect. He said that after the shot was published, he was contacted by a makeup artist who wanted to know who did the skin painting, so she could study under that person. When he told her it was all done digitally, she was very upset that she wouldn't be able to learn how to do such skin painting herself.
Jeff shoots Canon equipment and is a member of Canon's Explorer of Light program.
P.S. Since these are copyrighted images and are available on Jeff's website, you probably shouldn't have them in your DPC portfolio, especially without any credit. |

Thanks for your response Eddy. I didn't know of the origin. I added them to my workfolder so they are not visible to others (knowing they were not mine) but you're right - without credit they shouldn't be displayed so they will be removed. They do look sharp though.
