Hi all, I'm toying with the idea of getting a Canon 10-22mm wide angle lens to go with my 18-55mm kit lens. Obviously, the main reason to get such a lens is for landscape/seascapes, which my current 18mm just doesn't do satisfactorily. Will be spending a week at the beach in May getting married, so thought it would be perfect time to invest in a wide-angle and probably a 10-stop ND filter too.

I know Sigma/Tokina and others make similar lenses, but are they as good as the Canon which appears to be a great lens (sans the vignetting) according to most review sites I have looked at?

This will go on my 1.6x crop sensor Canon 550D. |

I'm very happy with the Tamron 10-24, though it seems to be the least popular choice among DPC folks.

I've had the 10-22 when I was using Canon cameras; I now have the Sigma 10-20 for my Nikon.

The Sigma is a very good lens, and at a bargain price. That being said, the Canon is an even better lens, at a higher but reasonable price.

 I can't speak for the rest. |

		see for yourself

the canon is clearly the best of the group, especially the edge to edge sharpness, but it also costs a lot more too. |

I was lucky enough to buy Neil's 10-22 off of him and the lens has been nothing but great. On my first entry with that lens I even got a blue with it. :)

I now have the tokina 11-16 f/2.8 and have to throw in my vote for that lens too. It's built like a tank and also comes with a hood. Not sure how often you'd use your ultra wide for hand held, low light situations but having f/2.8 is fantastic. The Tokina is sharper than both my 10-22s also.
Cons for the Tokina: The loss of 1mm on the wide end is noticeable and the extra 6mm of reach also makes a huge difference. |

I just beat Neil's high score on the canon 10-22. :P

It's an awesome lens. I wouldn't consider any other. It's pricier, but worth it. |

		| I have the Sigma 12-24. I love it. Unless you're going to go full frame, you don't need it. |
