I would love to have some comments on this picture. I took it last year from the plane coming home from Geneva

Have never seen the Millinium wheel from the sky. Looks huge. Never been to London so this is a very interesting shot of the cityscape. Is that a train stain on the right of the wheel?

Yes, it is however I am not sure of the name of the station. I am not from London. I was on my way home to Canada. I do know that Big Ben and the Parliment building can be seen on the left just down the river a bit from "The Eye" |

I think that's an excellent shot. I've tried aerials a few times but never got any that pleasing. WTG |

Actually, there are TWO stations - the one to the right of the London Eye is Waterloo (the long darker bit is the Eurostar terminal for travelling to france and belgium). And then there is Charing Cross, which is the very nice building on the opposite side of the river - just where the middle bridge closest to the wheel reaches the left bank. Just an inch to the left of that (i.e. the greyish smudge)is Trafalgar Square. In between is St Martins in the Field, a nice lovely church. Above left of the houses of parliament is Horseguards, and in between would be Downing Street. BTW this is a great picture - I think Heathrow is one of the few airports where it's fun being delayed over because you normally end up circling over the city...
The tall grey thing top left is Centre Point which, I think (Millennium dome excepted) is londons ugliest building. It's on the corner of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. This is very cool, I can also see the Imax cinema (round thing just up from waterloo) and the red building on the near side of the river all over to the right is the OXO building. It's especially cool because it's looking north, which feels right.

Great shot!
I'm a pilot myself and have taken many aerial photos but they aren't that easy to do... Haze and smog is often a problem - at least here around Toronto.
I love the clarity of this photo - and the landmarks that you've included. |
