This is not a moan, more a point out where i went wrong thread.
My latest entry didn't do as well as i hoped (5.66) and i noted it was below the average score given for the challenge. All the comments i received were positive even the one who noted the model had goose bumps (Yes she did, she was freezing)
I don't think it was a challenger by any stretch of the imagination but i would like to know what didn't appeal to the general voter.
The things that i don't like about the image are:
House to the left.
Fence line running through the model.
Slight reddening to the whites of the eyes.
Normally someone would point out an area for improvement which would open my eyes as to what was wrong.
Am i right in thinking the areas i don't like are the same areas the genearl viewer didn't like or was there something else?
Set me straight and be truthful, if it's pap i would rather know and not make the same mistake.
Thanks in advance.

That was me... the goose bump reference. :)
Personally, I thought it was a great image... but that's me. :)

Left you a comment. Take as much salt as you want. Bear in mind I sought "imperfections" for
the critique request. It's not that I saw the "bad" in the image when viewing or voting. I looked for it.
I'm impressed about the goose bumps!

I knew she was freezing (She's getting paid so she can suffer (Says the caring Father)), I was impressed you noticed as i had spent ages tweaking the image and hadn't spotted them myself. |

I gave it a six. Technically good, but it just didn't WOW me. |

I like this image but the one thing that lets it down is the fence.
It seems to merge into that side of the face/hair and take a couple of points of the shot.
The house is ok being there in my opinion.

I think it's technically not a bad photo, but the model doesn't seem to be enjoying herself and that translates through the image. It could be that she's not Supposed to be having fun, but she looks like she's not just posing in a bad mood but that "end of shoot" can't come fast enough. It could just be a weird angle/shadow but the left eye is obscured slightly and seems like it's looking at the camera in a "please end this" way.
I know that shouldn't be held against you in the voting, but it could've contributed to the viewers impression when viewing the image. |

Ryan I think you are absolutely spot on. This something my daughter and I have discussed before as her eyes are a true reflection of how she is feeling. In this case she was supposed to look serious but she couldn't wait to get back inside as she was freezing.
I have just read your comment to her to prove the point and she said "well it was freezing"
I'm going to have to catch her on her good days in future.
Thanks for the comment. |

Too true, or I could pay her after roll over based on how well the image does. |

Pffffftttt, based on that the last shot would have cost me £10, she would have to bring a ribbon home for that. Yes I'm as tight as a ducks arâ€Â¢s* |
