THE TWELVE STEPS

1. We admitted we were powerless over photography — that our photos had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to insanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Art as we understood It.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our photos.
5. Admitted to Art, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our sloppy images.
6. Were entirely ready to have Art remove all these defects of photography.
7. Humbly asked blur to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all real photographers we had offended, and became willing to make more interesting photographs than they do.
9. Made more interesting photographs than such photographers wherever possible, especially when to do so would insult them or others.
10. Continued to take photographic inventory and when we got brown ribbons promptly told everyone about it.
11. Sought through unusual settings and exposures to improve our unconscious contact with Art, as we understood It, praying only for knowledge of Its will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to real photographers, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

I wish I hadn’t read this as I have had a revelation.

My name is Phil Abra, and I have a problem.

The first part to #8 would take forever! The last part not as long.

I'm entirely mystified by the 12 steps. I guess I'll just wait for the movie...;-)

Does this mean the challenge will be 90% pictures of cameras?

yeah, I'm in.
I'm a 9(b) man and stuck there. Can't get past that calculated effrontery sub-step.

My interpretation of Don's 12 steps:

1. Took way too many photos
2. They were all boring
3. Maybe Art could make them interesting?
4. Hit Delete many times
5. Found something in the few remaining
6. Asked Art to spice them up
7. Discovered Photoshop
8. Realized that ribbons don't make great photos
9. Ignored all rules
10. Strived for low scores and lack of recognition
11. Took lots of long exposure, dark, light, blurry, grainy shots
12. Became a visionary
