Thanks! Just found one on eBay. That will save money and hassle. |
I'm not sure if I got this right, it seems you're going for the 5D MK2? If so you might want to consider getting a new cf card that is udma and take advantage of the speed that offers, all though maybe data speed is not a consideration for you. I got my 16gig card for $64 |
The specs say:
Compact Flash Type I (UDMA compatible), SD/SDHC/SDXC
does it mean it has SD slot?? |

Nope, the 5D Mk II only takes CF

So does that mean it can use SD with a CF Type I adapter? I am confused why the specs mention SD/SDHC/SDXC. I have 3 SDHC 16GB Extreme cards that I use with 550D and S95. It would be great if I could use them on 5D as well. |

I am guessing the adapter will work, I am wondering thought if there will be a degredation in it's performance. |

Abusing this thread with a lens question:

I'm looking at the 17-40mm f/4L, mainly for landscapes - can anyone share experience with this lens? I realize it's an older model, I've read reviews, there are complaints about softness at f/4... Still, the price is really attractive. |

I have the lens, and I'm actually very positively impressed with it. Although I'm sure I would love the 16-35 II, I don't love the price. The 17-40 will show softness in the far corners, particularly wide open. That's the major dig on the lens. Stop it down a bit and things get better. For the money, its a darn good performer.

He said it all. Plus, there's a bit of barrel distortion but it's easily (and automatically) correctable in PS.

Pretty well summed up. The only thing I would add is the crazy awesome saturation and contrast, which is seconded to none in my arsenal...
When I was in Hawaii, I used the 17-40F4L about 90% of the time, oh and it's light to boot with out killing your budget. Would love to get the 16-35 but out of my price range right now. |
