I can pretty much guess that would be a big NO.

I'm in. I only found one out of a year's worth that I thought was artistic. Que sera sera. Just trying to up my challenge participation.

From the Advanced Edit ruleset: "You may not use the same original image in more than one challenge."
I had that idea, too, for an image which was accidentally "artistic". But, I had entered it in a challenge and I didn't have another frame good enough. So, I dug through images until my wife told me she liked one, in an artistic sense. Oh, boy. I'm doomed.

Does this apply to images posted in side challenges too?
I am guessing not, even if it could well be considered bad form anyway.

You can use something from a side challenge. I don't even think it's bad form (unless it's very recent and has a million views). Just hide it first.

DK. Not necessarily a DQ, just a DK. I'm not the one to ask. I see a lot of "rules" and/or traditional good behaviors being run roughshod over these days, but I don't know anything. And, I'm not criticizing anyone. Just speaking in idioms to confuse the French.

eta: good cross post with Kelli. Listen to her! Not me!

i know its traditionally not allowed but this thread has a special rule-set so i wasn't sure.

for future reference, how about putting all the rules on the challenge description, not linking to a discussion thread 5 pages deep.

Well, I had the same knee-jerk reaction. But, in a quiet moment, i did find the rules ... all on one page. One thing which has changed a bit is the listing of the image capture window dates, which is now down near the upload image button.

The only extra rule is: This challenge has the added benefit of being juried.
Otherwise, all the rules are in the Advanced Editing ruleset.

Thanks, I see your point and also agree, in that I wouldn't do it if I had other options.
Fact is, I saved up those images for this challenge, but then lost hope they would actually call it and put them in the side challenge just on time to see the announcement the day after :)
I felt a bit bummed, to be honest, and took them off ASAP.
They have been seen by 5 people or less, accordingly to the site's records, so I wouldn't feel that bad about it.
Also, as much as I liked them, realistically they would all be low scorers, so I feel they won't interfere with the results.

PS: I think I understood your meaning, but what does DK stand for? The only DK I know of is in Scandinavia :)

Kelly, thanks for the advice. I am looking forward to see yours ;)

What is art. Is it something emulating the work of Modigliani? VanGogh, Monet, or Rothko. Or even Norman Rockwell?

This should be an interesting one to score. How can there be a DNMC in the Challenge!

DK stands for "Don't Know". The acronym comes from the brokerage business. If one doesn't recognize nor accept a trade at the end of the day, one marks it DK.

Jutilda and yanko, as members of the select jury, I think you set things back by being cryptic.

It was just my opinion. Also, it's not my challenge theme/concept so just ignore me.
