I am trying to set up an account with WHCC Printers and one thing that is required is the JPG file must be accompanied with an ICC profile. I got the email on how to set that up but it is for Adobe Photoshop.

I have Paintshop Pro 7 and cannot seem to find if it will embed that color profile.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject?

Sigh, it seems the software is obsolete for the purpose of sending an accurate color profile to the printer.

Paintshop Pro all the way up to X1 only has the ability to set ICC profiles for the printer directly attached to it. It does NOT have the ability to embed that information for offsite color labs:-(

Looks like I must upgrade.

Upgrades are cheap. I can steer you to a place where you can buy X2 or X3 for next to nothing if needed. You can get X4 for $50 or less. I just upgraded from X2 to X4, and they fixed some things in X4 that I was waiting on. Plus it included a full copy of the previous version of color Efex in the ultimate edition.

I am currently eyeballing the PSP X4 ....can you tell me if it has in the SAVE AS option the checkbox or selection to 'Embed Color Profile : sRGB IEC61966-2.1' ?

The only selection I see in the drop down is for SRGB, but not the one you mention. I do see the ability to import additional color profiles that can be used. You should then be able to save with the color profile that you used for editing.

The Color Working Space dialog box appears.
The recommended working space for Corel PaintShop Pro is sRGB.
3 In the Color Working Space drop-list, choose a color space.
4 In the CMYK Profile drop-list, choose a profile to be used for the CMYK-related operations in the application.
The drop-list includes the default CMYK profile and any profiles that you have added.
5 Click OK.

Thanks for checking Steve. Those steps are for setting up the color management I believe. Once one has done that I wonder if the next step of choosing "Save As' for jpg format that it gives you the checkbox option to embed the color profile with the jpg file. I have sent off a reply to WHCC detailing some of my findings and asking if they are familiar with PSP X4...and hopefully it satisfies the ICC profile that their color lab needs to print the colors accurately to what I see on my screen.

I guess the other online printers that I have dealt with over the years just set it to a default sRGB and left it at that. Luckily prints I ordered in the past all seemed fine but I do remember one or two being too dark. The lesson of learning about embedding the color profile may have been the solution to avoiding that.

I have got to go to bed - the words are now swimming before my eyes and it has been a looonnnngggg day.
