Indeed, take a look at my virst few shots under my profile. It took me SEVERAL challenges to get above a 5. Good work by the way, especially for a newbie! Hope you enjoy it here!

It is hard to judge photos. And I admit I was hard the first time around. I'll be better next time promise.

5.3 is respectable. You seem to have gotten alot of comments. That's good.
Keep up the good work. Don't worry about scores so much. Eneter what you like, and learn from the comments, etc.

4.959 was my first score, but have received much higher and much lower scores since.
A high score is nice, but when someone selects a picture has a favorite I feel has I've accomplish what I wanted. |

Be careful how much weight you allow those 1's and 2's to carry - you don't know who voted them, and you don't know why they didn't like your shot. It may even have been the title.
5.3's pretty good though, for a first attempt. Better than my own first go.
Here's a question for you: what would you guess prevented your scoring much higher? Answer that and I'll write a considered comment on your pic. (Not bribery, but I think an attempt to be really objective about your shot - out loud - is often very useful) Edit: and it'll be interesting to compare opinions.

Well I think that is a positive way to start out. I started with a 5.3 but most of experience here has been like a roller coaster. Very few highs and lots of lows. But I guess that's the name of the game. |

5.3 seems pretty good to me. The main thing is do you feel you have learned something? I find that I am learning something on each challenge and managing to more of less avoid pervious mistakes, unfortunately I keep finding new mistakes to make. But the learning is fun and I have not regretted entering any of the challenges so far. |

BTW, the dog in my profile is my baby, Zoe the wonder dog. She's a 7 year old Sheltie (rescue dog).

That's about what I had on my first one. Then they got better and now I am about to have my worse once ever on the strength. Too bad there wasn't a way to get out of the challenge... lol
