I just think this invites the hardliners on both sides of the religion/atheism debate to create material that is offensive to someone, leaving the moderate folks to just stand there and shake their heads. I bet the admins would never go for it, and for that I'm thankful.

Hardliners are found on the religious side of the equation... atheist simply don't care.

Ray

They are found on both sides,I've heard of atheists getting in the faces of religious people and insullt them, just as I've heard of atheists being persecuted for their non-belief. Live and let live is something we should all ascribe to.

Ray's just pulling your leg. He knows they care otherwise Rant wouldn't exist.

Unfortunately, I don't think titling the pictures with the reference will work very well -- you can't expect every voter to research every citation, in which case it essentially becomes a free study. I think a quote with citation would work better:
"The love of money is the root of all evil." -- Bible

(*should be "a holy book", sorry)

Choose any holy book of some major religion (list below), create image that describe only that sentence.
Your title should be only the reference (book name, chapter, number etc..) without the sentence itself.
I think that expert / advanced editing will be great here.

Major religions list (according to wikipedia)

Neo-Paganism

(may god help me if I forgot something ;) )

Yup, you're gonna need some help.

What happened to plain ol' Paganism? Forget the neo and "improved" version.
Hug a tree and hope for the best.

The closest thing to a holy book I have is "Leaves of Grass" or maybe "Ulysses"

Us old school Pagans were thought to have become extinct about the same time as the Wooly Mammoth... but like the Yeti, it is rumored we yet survive in very remote pockets of the uncivilized world. In fact the truth is much stranger. We have infiltrated mainstream society, and exist as symbionts within the organism. ;-)

But the organism is killing all the trees, soon there will be no place to hide, uhh, tree to hug.

You're right. So I'll settle for a shrub.

Religion sucks, spirituality doesn't, the former never contains the later because the later can never be restrained in such shackles.

A zen koan: if you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him.

Yeah, but that line was already copyrighted by James Bond.

A while ago my parents found out a hare krishna big brass had been living for years in the flat over theirs, holding meetings just over their kitchen.
For years they believed there was a broken pipe in the ceiling, and received occasional phone calls asking to speak with "the enlightened".
