You're getting to the rub of the thing: when there's no more cash, how will we sneak the occasional guilty indulgence past our quartermasters? "Honey, what do you need cash FOR, anyway? Be honest with me; are you STILL buying Hershey bars at the 7-11?"
When cash is outlawed, only outlaws will have cash...

That might make it tougher for the guy who sells crack on the street corner.

Indeed, and nice clean money too as it will have been laundered via ATM machines.

It appears that paying for coffee with cash is now a sign of being a potential terrorist... Slippy, you're on the watchlists! ;)

I always wear a disguise when I go for a coffee... and gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints on the coins.

cash.
Especially in transactions involving a gratuity like dinners. Just think it is inconsiderate to make a server wait for their compensation when you got your service that day. Same for a haircut, car wash or other personal service items.
Use CC's for larger purchases but even pay cash for gas. Pay bills the old archaic "by check" method and mail them in.
Some people like the detailed transaction history that a credit card provides and some really use the points for air travel and such. Never saw much use for it myself and always figured the power would be out when I needed my money the most. Typically have enough on hand to get through a few days expenses. |

Pay cash for gas???? I can't remember the last time I did that. (pay at the pump) Also I have not written a check for anything in over 5 years. I pay my bills online usually...

i use my credit for EVERYTHING, if i could use it to pay my mortgage and utilities i would.
i pay my balance off every month, i never incur finance charges. credit cards are a convenience to myself (and my wifes bookkeeping). plus the rebate equal about $250-300 (or more depending on the cash back promotions that are running )a year and that's extra cash i get to spend on whatever i want.
Usually gets the wife and i a weekend getaway.
credits cards are awesome if you can be disciplined with them.
