Yeah, there were a few that were GORGEOUS images (perfect for a Free Study) but without the title, they did not connote (no pun intended) music in any way shape or form. Oh well.....

Margaret, if you experimented, was pleased with your image and got past 5, I call it a success. It means that you managed to awaken some minds. To get 5 for an image that you think will please everybody is a different matter.

It is improving - 5.2 now but still just one comment. Yes, I like it and it does mean music to me as I see it in my mind. I love music more than photography and as I am pretty crazy about photos this does mean something. So my conclusion is that I suck at photography as I could not capture an image that would convey my love of music to other people/DPCers.

What do you do with a comment that indicates the commenter didn't quite get it?

I normally send them a message after the challenge and ask why. If they were interested enough to comment, then I want to see what their thoughts were. . .but, I won't typically message during the contest as that is sort of an uncomfortable area when it comes to potential vote manipulation.
