Shoot with what suits your style/light conditions etc...
Don't read too much into what equipment is going to turn you into some kind of stealth photo ninja (it's not), if you look like a jerk people are going to think your a jerk.
Be comfortable and confident and you could carry a bazooka. |

I liked my Canon G7 for street photography. It has a bigger sensor and a faster lens than most PnS cams along with most of the same control and modes found in a DSLR.
If I was going to get another camera to take its place, I'd get a Canon S100 |
