I used to use my LB Composer and LB 2.0 on my 40D and the settings on my camera were so easy... I'd use aperture priority and the camera would determine the shutter speed and the exposures were pretty much right on.

Now with my 7D and LB Composer, I used aperture priority and let the camera determine the shutter speed and almost everything comes out WAY underexposed... Like I need to bump up the exposure almost 3 full stops... or overexposed.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening or maybe what camera settings I should use (other than manual)?

I loved the LB on my 40D because I never had to adjust settings from shot to shot but now, the 7D is all over the place and I don't want to have to adjust settings every time I take a shot.

Use it in manual and adjust your shutter speed that way. The meter in the camera should give you a decent reading. Thats how I use mine anyway.

But what I am saying is that I never had to do that. I could always be in aperture priority and the exposure was calculated correctly by the 40D. Now the 7D won't work the same way.

Would it help to change your metering mode maybe?

Out of curiousity, does this happen with any other lens?

I think this is the root of the problem. The Lensbaby is just another manual lens, and Av mode should work just fine. Try setting the camera to meter on the center point only, then shoot something where that point is on something that you want in the mid-tone range (if you have a gray card, put that in a scene and meter on that). Did it expose properly?

Well, for crying out loud, I don't know why but it's working properly now. I didn't change anything. I did some quick testing and all is well... I've never had this happen with another lens... Thank you

You didn't by chance run the EV comp all the way down by accidently rolling that wheel on the back?? Just a thought (I have never done that... looks around waiting for the lightening :-) ).

No... I just don't know what happened...

I've had the same thing happen with the 5D. Erratically, and for no apparent reason that I can figure out. So you are not alone. It helps that I actually LIKE the looks of underexposed LB shots, so I can live with that. Overexposed, not so much...

Thanks, Bear... I am glad to know I am not going crazy
