It is driving me bananas! Is there a permanent fix? From my point of view it is a completely unwanted feature.

Do you mean when you do an edit? It doesn't stack unless you let it. When you set up a filter, say going to Nik, or exporting, you tell it whether or not you want it to stack the results when you set up the filter.

Do you mean when you edit in Photoshop from Lightroom ? If so untick the box at the bottom of "what to Edit".
photo > edit in > edit in ps then right click for box mentioned above.
Hope you understand this.

Thanks, Neil and Neil. I can see Stack box on Export to Photomatix, for NIK and others I found a Stack box in Preferences/External Editing.

Ok, but I'm curious why you don't like stacking? My issue is that they won't let me do "enough of it"! For example, you cannot stack photos in different folders (like a reduced version in a "web" folder). Stacking is great after a shoot too, to reduce the shots to only those that are "different" (since I tend to bracket, and try many variations of the same theme).

Anyway, just curious....

I manually stack bracketed manually, and then use collections to weed out the keepers. But I just started with LR...is there a better way?

I keep on losing stacked photos, they seem to get stuck. I use labels, stars and flags for sorting. I am really not a serious photog and I don't bracket that much any more.
