Don't know, just a guess. I have one of the Kitchenaids and can't see any angle on it that would give that picture.
eta: It also looks like it been heated, see the line along the silver portion.

Well, on closer inspection the flap-thingy is plastic and the gray part is base metal. So heating there seems unlikely, plus that looks like a stain along where the gap would be when the flap closes. But what the heck do I know?

Upon closer inspection it looks like there is a blue plastic insert in the shadows. Maybe that will help someone. |

You messed up and left the blade in the photo. I gathered the scale from the belt clip.
Be right back with a puzzler.

Everybody knows what this is, it's about who it belonged to this round, and it should be an easy one. He was one of my great grandfather's friends.

Hmm. The blade release is a bit different on that one. Handy to have on hand though, aren't they?

That's it. My G Grandfather was a telegraph engineer and operator. When Edison would stay in Fort Myers Florida, there were not many people that he could talk tech with about electricity and electrical things, and since he was getting his "emails" by telegram, he became friends with my G Grandfather.

Best post ever!! Very interesting.
Do you have any photos of them?
I'll post something in a few..
ETA: Originally I was going with Nikola Tesla, but I figured Edison was more homebound. :)
