Super!

Fingers crossed.

Is there anywhere to watch the show online?

I just got internet again. Internet is always such a luxury when traveling : )

I don't think there is anywhere to watch the bootcamp online at the moment, but it sounds like they are stuill planning on making the whole thing into a TV show. The TV guys are everywhere. I don't particularly like being on camera, so it took me a day to get used to them. One of them looks EXACTLY like my brother, down to the same glasses, so that makes it a bit easier : )

The classes are going really well. I'm not allowed to tell exactly what we are being taught, but all of it is definitely helpful. I've gotten 80%s and 90% on all of my quizzes and assignments so far, so I think I'm doing decently. I really hope I get picked. This program is just too perfect for me. The whole crew is so great too. I won't find out whether or not I made it to the final round until Friday. In the meantime, I will be working on a huge shoot and trying to make sure the whole thing is perfect and spectacularly impressive : )

80s and 90s on your quizzes? Not surprised in the least! Just goes to prove what a good proving ground DPC truly is! Have fun and keep us posted...

Thanks for the update. It sounds like a great experience so far, and I am glad to hear things are going well. Don't let the TV cameras bother you. If they are filming a reality show you may be able to increase your odds by illustrating your photography skills AND creating lots of drama.

Guess who's moving to Cape Town! That's right, I got selected!!!

I was actually in the top 5 of all the 130 people that attended the bootcamp, which is pretty dang awesome. The top 5 automatically got offered positions while the other top 30 had to battle it out for a spot. I think 17 or 18 people made the final cut (yesterday was so intense I don't remember all too much).

It still hasn't completely sunk in yet that I am really going to do this. Every few minutes, it hits me again. I find myself saying "HOLY SCHEISSE" rather regularly.

A huge thanks is in order for Robert for posting about this program! Thank you so much!!

And thanks to DPC for beating in all of that technical knowledge to help me score so well on all of the exams : ) I think DPC is also part of the reason why Yuri said that my final assignment was one of the cleanest ones submitted. Thanks guys!

Congratulations, Stefanie.

I'm very interested to know where and when it will be shown. I live in South Africa (Johannesburg) and if it weren't for DPC, I wouldn't even know this was happening.

You're very welcome, Stefanie, and congratulations. I would have liked to maybe have tried to do this myself if it was only a year later. I'm so glad that someone on DPC is able to take advantage of it.

I look forward to your updates and hearing how this all goes for you in the long run. I can only imagine what this experience is going to teach you.

That is fantastic, Stephanie. Congratulations -- the adventure continues. So, now what happens? You have a job for the next three years traveling the world on photography assignments? Have you broken the news to the newspaper?

Yuri said that he is already planning Bootcamp 2013, so you'll have to apply when it rolls around. I'll make sure to post here when he announces it : )

I haven't broken it to the newspaper yet. I only just decided that I'm not going to go back to the States for 36 hours, like I had originally planned. I have a difficult phone call I'll have to make on Monday.

It looks like I'll be in Cape Town until May, taking classes with Yuri and his staff and doing practice shoots. We all head to Denmark in May for a few months of shooting. There will be other trips in between, but the trips will become more frequent as our skills, confidence, and reliability increase. I can't wait! This program really is so perfect for me.

Here's a teaser video and a short run-down of how the program went. I managed to avoid the videographers for most of the bootcamp, so I'm not in the teaser video : )

11 of 18 are South African? What's with that? And THREE Canadians! Only 4 slots for the rest of the world...

We (a small group of boot campers) estimated that about 60-70% of the people in the bootcamp were South African, so that definitely influenced the final percentages. The Canadians totally kicked the other countries' butts though!
