| What about the 17-40L if you're looking at this range? They can be had for as low as $400 used on FM. |

Just like Ebay, you've got to be patient and catch it at the right time. Also, some folks are willing to negotiate behind the scenes via PM. |

ok, so i am in the middle of getting a tamron 28-75.
so now what do i get to cover the wide end. should i go short range and really wide or try to do as gcoulson suggests and get a wider zoom?
Im thinking if i go wide, i should just go really wide. Like the Sigma 10-20 or the Tamron 10-24. |

Well, I love my Sigma 10-20, but the Canon equivalent is highly rated, so consider that. I have the variable 10-20, not the constant 3.5, which is also noteworthy. The Sigma is great, well built, sorta soft, as is true of all Sigma. Great AF, great build. I bring it everywhere, and I'm glad it comes with a great case. My impression of Tamron is that it has worse AF but better IQ, and slightly lower build quality (it feels that way compared to Sigma, but I've never had an actual issue). I guess it depends HOW wide you're looking for.
Realistically, my "normal" kit is the D300, Sigma 10-20, Nikon 28-70, and 80-200. That covers everything in great quality.
Just know the Sigma isn't as SHARP nor does it have as good of contrast, but it's AF is way superior. That's your compromise between brands.
ETA: Getting a 17-40 is silly ifyou get the 28-75. At that point, get the Sigma 10-20 or the Canon 10-22 I think it is?

i had teh sigma 12-24 on my 5d very wide and istorted at 12mm but a cool effect if you like that, i paid £320 for it of ebay second hand and it was in great condition traded it in for a 16-35 2.8 L which i love :) its on my camera an awful lot hehe, obviously the 16-35 cost me £750 plus the sigma trade in but its a belting lens and i use it for gigs etc and low light so those
will you need anything wider than the 24 it pretty wide? although yeah you do actually number of shots i shoot wide

i prefer sharpness to AF, I'm used to slow AF, besides its most likely for landscape where AF isn't going to be an issue any how.
i have a 60D so a 24 or the 28 i will have wont be wide enough. the 100mm is for sale on a few outlets, im in no rush to get the wide lens, but i will pull the trigger if a good deal comes along. |

lol - You adding a "rare DPC usage" req so you can do well here with your new lens?? Good luck with that quest :-)
I thought I had one years ago.... My first lens from an SLR bought in 1989.... but jaxed and irishblue also have it and well.... I ain't making that list in my lifetime :-) |

i didnt filter i just searched say canon 5d 16-35 2.8L and see what comes up or go into the canon 60d group then search for the lens within the group
e.g. //www.flickr.com/search/?q=canon%2060d%20sigma%2010-20 |
