The schedule should be finalized after the results of this weekend's games (last week of regular season). We've got Packers playoff tickets, and we don't know whether our game will be on the 14th or 15th either :-P

Cool (cold!) ... did you pick up any shares in the team at the recent sale?

Thought about it... but the tickets seemed a better deal!

congratulations on the Packers tickets, Kirbic. Although I do understand it is
a tad chilly in that stadium this time of year.
:)

So at the end of this weekend us folks in Northern California should know
when our own free time is available.

So, it appears that the 'Niners will host a game on Saturday the 14th, which means Sunday will be better for getting into and out of The City. I'm still flexible, but will prefer Sunday!

What say the rest of ye?

Yippee, we have a date. Sunday, the 15th for our Northern California 10th Anniversary GTG.

Start at the gallery - 678 Portola Drive, San Francisco 94127 in the morning.
I dunno, is 9:30 a good time to start? earlier? later?

Steve, how about Rasai? Maybe I'll drop him a PM...

And anyone else in the area come! Let's make this a big and fun reunion.

food - we could make it a potluck over at my house if we stay in the area, or???

In other words, we have a date; let's get moving!

A little later would better for me -- I may be using public transportation to get into the City and its slower and later on Sundays (as am I). Will we need cars to get around?

I think it will be simpler for people to just bring a bag lunch than to organize a potluck; we can always revert to fourth-grade mode and trade items if someone brings something better to eat.

Paul, whatever works for the most people is the way to go on food, I think. 4th grade sounds like fun, though.
As far as cars, there are always extra seats, so not everyone needs to drive around in solitary splendor. As far as that goes, my ancient legs don't carry me too far, so at least one Prius will be available. :)
(The overlook is a good hike up a nearby hill and if we head for Glen Canyon it's another pretty good hike, downhill.)
What time would be easiest for you to try for?

Maybe just a little later (10 or 10:30) wold make it more likely to be on time. I will probably end up driving there from Oakland, but I'd rather not drive around in the city if we ( Isaac should be coming along) can hitch rides with others. I'm good for hiking now since the replacement parts have settled-in. :-)

Glad everything works again, Paul. I would be elated if Isaac is willing to explore along with us 'old folks.'
Hmmm, at his age, everyone over 17 is undoubtedly well over the hill.

When I was working at the college cafeteria, we got on one of our co-workers for being over-the-hill when he turned 25, to which he (a cyclist) riposted "Yeah, but one thing about being over the hill, you get to coast all the way down."

Oh, dang, Fiora - but what a photo op day for you.
Hmmm, can you throw/catch a frisbee and take pictures at the same time?

Actually...I got a GoPro for Christmas so that is exactly what I am going to be doing! Ok, well probably not the photos, but definitely video while playing.

Erm, kristinaG, I assume you are heading to the extreme frisbee event rather than the Northern California GTG?
If it's frisbee, I'll look forward to the pictures. If it's something else ... okay, pictures work there too. :)

AWWWWW, FIORA, YOU WENT AND CHANGED YOUR NAME!
good one girl! Ya got me!

I'm in for whatever anybody or everybody would like to do regarding getting around, meeting and eating. I'll drive my econocar if that's helpful.

Still waiting for rasai (Tim) to get back to me.

I'm looking forward to it!

Aww, that's super, Steve. (Giggle, is the econocar when you put the sidecar on your Bike?)
So far you and Paul & maybe Isaac have confirmed,
these others said they'd come back in November,
But it would be nice to have confirmation...I emailed everyone a week or so ago
and am still looking for responses.

Oh, we are getting close to the magic anniversary date.
While I haven't had too much input from the locals, here's the plan:

Meet at the Gallery between 9:30 and 10:00. (I'll be there a bit earlier to open up.)
From the Gallery we'll head up the hill to the Twin Peaks Overlook. With any luck we
will get there before all the tour buses. Also before the haze hits the skyline.
After that? The day is up for grabs. There's the Zoo, the Beach, Downtown, any of the
districts. Glen Canyon.

It would be nice to have confirmation of who's coming. I think I will just invite you all
to my house for lunch/dinner - which ever works.

So the day is flexible, but it is almost upon us.

Reply here or by PM.

Meanwhile: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DPC!

You are talking about the morning of Sunday, the 15th? Isaac and I are planning to be there. I suppose what we do may be determined by the weather (rain) ... I'd prefer stuff which is not too expensive.

One place I haven't been since I was a kid is the Maritime Museum/old ships near the West end of the bayfront ...

Sunday, the 15th. Next Sunday.
Long forecast is no rain...

Yeah, I meant the 15th ... darned typos!

Looks as if Baldurt may join us as well! And bring his wife.

If that's where we elect to go, the Maritime Museum is still there and opens at 10:00am.
Paul, if you're old enough to have a Golden Age Passport you're free at the ships,
otherwise it's a $5 admission charge.
Some street parking around there and also in Ghirardelli Square Garage.
01/09/2012 07:48:46 PM · #50
I can afford $5 and to contribute to the parking; I have a Handicapped Parking placard we can use ... :-)

I'd also be up for a hike to the "secret" Glen Canyon -- never been there before.
