Sorry Wendy

Any ideas for an agenda for the day? We might as well start to think about it now.

For any that know Central Park well

I was thinking of meeting at Columbus Circle. It seems like a large, central area to meet. We could have a meet and greet to get to know each other (this would allow for any late commers), then be on our way.

What do you think???

columbus circle works for me...we can meet there and then head in to central park. the zoo is nearby which we can walk to. other good spots:
conservatory garden (way up at 103rd and 5th ave; flowers flowers flowers)
times square (people people people)
bryant park (42nd and 6th)
madison square park (great views of empire state and flatiron)
battery park and battery park city (views of the WTC site, downtown buildings, brooklyn bridge not far)

and much much more...

22nd @ Columbus Circle sounds great!
What is the purpose of the get together? Are we taking pictures together, getting to know each other, learn foto techniques from each other, all of these or what?

It would be nice to know what & why so we know what to expect. I imagine everyone is gonna bring their camera so shooting stuff would be great. Maybe we can throw in stuff we would like to get better at shooting so we can help each other out in improving.

The zoo sounds good to me but maybe everyone doesnt have a telephoto lens, I know I dont yet.

My thought was:
First, a get to know you time (this can be used for almost anything)
then a walk through the park for picture taking...
Then.............

Too bad I don't live in NYC, because I would love to come, but alas, I am over here in Idaho-land.

Don't fill too bad. I live in Brooklyn and can't go because I have a finals at that time.

Columbus Circle is a perfect place to meet. There are so many places/people/things to shoot in the park; I just added a few recent Central Park shots to my portfolio. It's endless.

Picnic?

the central park zoo isnt that big so can probably get away without a huge zoom...

columbus circle....time?

FYI, Hubby will be attending with me. We should include "other 1/2's" in the head count if anyone else is bringing one.
Hubby knows the tri-state area well since he works in there & drives it all day, every day...and I don't go to the city without him ;)

We'll be driving in & have a Yukon XL (suburban) & can seat 6 other passengers and their equipment. If 1 or 2 others have larger vehicles, getting around might be easier if the chosen places are spread out. Otherwise, we'll just drive between places & meet you there. I can not do huge hikes from place to place on top of all the park & zoo walking without paying for it for weeks afterward.

We need to set a time & try to nail down a basic artinerary. Hard to chose...

thats cool meeting place and time, but we should check out the brooklyn bridge also, there is a little nice park there for great shots also a few minutes away there is a beautiful place to take shots of the skyline someone also mentioned china town that sounds like a good picture taking place too.
