I don't even care about this score, but am actually surprised by it. The subject means more to me than the score.

| 33 votes and 5.11, thought my shot would have scored higher, but on a positive I really like it :-) |

| OUCH! dropped from a 7 to a sub 6.4 in about 4 votes.. however, I am still delighted to finally have a good score and more importantly, I love the shot myself. |

| 5.37 w/ 40 votes. This is the first time I'm surprised by the "only average" score, but I have no intention of getting flustered over it. Different strokes for different folks, I'm just glad to have some (hopefully) decent peer review. |

Status: We need proof that your submission is valid. Please waste no time in submitting proof.
It's only the 3rd day of the year and I can already cross off one of my goals for 2012 - "Take an image that scores high enough or evokes enough interest to require validation". My first request after 145 submissions! If I knew posting goals (I've never done it before) could occur so soon I would have listed winning some ribbons too. |

no idea why its not being liked, some comments allude to a slight flaw but if that same level was used on every photo then wed all be on 4's. never seem to understand the voting here off to look at the others, i was dissapointed with the standard of the portraits in this challenge only saw about 12 out of the whole challenged that looked like pro photographer portraits. |

Just awful, it seems. |
Sad part is, all the negative comments are spot on- things I did not realise. Or maybe thats the happy part! |

One lesson might be that you should never settle on being happy with your photos. ONce you think you've accomplished something great... thats when its time to go back to the drawing board. |

very true but i guess i meant looking like pro portraits due to the general better htan average standard of photographers on here over snap shots

I liked my image and initially thought this might do better. Then, the first two comments pointed both pointed out the same problem. I should have recognized the issue and easily corrected it. It was quite helpful, but now every time I glance at the thumbnail the flaw taunts me and I cringe. Shoot and learn. |

I have to admit too that I was expecting more of a 1x standard of portraits in this challenge. I think some of the most amazing portrait photographers in the world are here on DPC, so I was a little surprised myself to only see a few that really wow'ed me.

I think alot of people tried to do too much. I see several that are just over edited. Probably could have been good shots if they didn't spend so much time trying to do extra stuff in photoshop. |

| i had a comment to that extent on mine which in reality took 10 mins to edit, i removed all the dust spots (needs a good clean) smoothed the bed sheet background id used as a back drop (time to get a proper vinyl one) sharpened the eyes and defined the hair and then smoothed the skin, topaz b&w conversion all in aperture. only photoshop was to save for web to get it to 300k for here, which i think needs changing to a bigger size like 1x 800x800 is to small most ppl now have modern screens and high resolutions. seems a shame to have 8-30mp cameras to be then viewed at 800x800 and 300k |

Some may argue that sharpening the eyes, smoothing the skin, and applying topaz tools could be applied too heavy creating an 'over photoshopped' look. Note that I have no idea what your specific photo looks like at this point... |

yeah maybe but it was an advanced editing challenge no many ppl took up on that from what i remember of the challenge
i guess its all subjective but i like to think i have a very subtle hand and often complain about over processing so id like to think i hadnt over worked it :) but you never know only 3 comments

Very happy with this result as it's my first attempt at a portrait. Best part is I received a nice comment from someone whose work I greatly admire!

| I just want to throw this laptop to the wall and jump on its pieces... Victim of its monitor. Could not do the editing correctly and it is getting killed (one of my excuses at least) |
