An irreducible tree (i.e. a tree with no vertices of degree two) has more leaf nodes (vertices of degree one) than other vertices.

Let T be a tree of order n with no vertices of degree two. Let r be the number of leaf nodes of T, and let s be the number of other vertices, necessarily having degree greater than or equal to three. Then r + s = n. Since a tree of order n has exactly n - 1 edges, the sum of the degrees of all vertices of T is 2(n - 1). So r vertices have degree one, and s vertices have degree at least three, and r + 3s <= 2(n - 1).

Substituting r = n - s and multiplying out the right side, we achieve:
(n - s) + 3s = 2s + n <= 2n - 2

Then:
2s <= n - 2

And dividing both sides by 2:
s <= n/2 - 1

So s, the number of non-leaf nodes, accounts for fewer than half the vertices of T. The remaining vertices must be leaf nodes.

seriously y does shit like that not make the world news? if that crap was on the news every night i'd be laughing my ass off!! it's better than anything cable calls tv.

kinda like the guy that was robbing the store put a plastic bag over his head so they couldn't see his face. clerk just waited till he passed out to tie him up.....apparently that's happened in more than one robbery too.

A couple of years ago...this guy was caught screwing his sister pig...He had just gotten out of prison and I guess he was lonely...Anyway it was his 3rd felony so he got sentenced to life...My ex-mother in law was the DA incharge of the case....They even brought the pig in as a material witness.....It made Jay Lenno
