am i allowed to duplicate my base layer apply a gaussian blur and then haphazardly erase parts i want crisp to show through, not a whole lot just enough to draw the eye to my subject more?

under advanced editing rules.

Yes.

The only thing to watch out for is that the blur, where used, not utterly obliterate whatever was there.

thanks, just out of curiosity, would pseudo-tilt shift be allowed in advanced? isn't it kind of the same thing?
