Keep in mind, I know nothing of this "lighting" that you speak of.
I am finally looking to be able to afford some lighting this year. I just want something I can put in a studio for family/model shots. . . I don't know whether I should go continuous lighting or strobe. I have no idea what in the hell I am doing. I will be hooking this up to a Canon d60 that I will be buying at the end of this month. . .I need the price to be between 200 TO 400 US Dollars. What would you guys rec?

Your budget may not sound like much, but if you follow the instructions and suggestions on the Strobist Blog, you will be able to accomplish what you want to do. |

Studio with that budget.... $250 ish for 1 alienbee B400 (you could try ebay but not likely to save much over new)... grab a cheap umbrella from amazon or ebay for say $30... grab a LONG sync cable from flashzebra.com for $20
.... and your off and racing for smack in the middle of your budget :-) Try not to trip over the long cable too much (it will happen trust me :-/ ). |

| You could always get a few work lamps with reflectors. That is all Brian DeMint uses. His site. |

yakatme. . .thank you so much for that link. That guy literally trained me from virtually no knowledge to a decent amount of understanding relatively quickly. I now understand what I need, and why.

Well. . .I will be buying my D60 on the 29th. Once it arrives and all is well, I will be selling my 1000D on Craig's list or to a friend. Then I will be taking that money and applying it to lighting. . .then have to wait for that to arrive. . .blah de blah de blah etc. But sometime in January I should have it set up.
