LOL, I only scored 6. And I *do* consider myself a gearhead! Although, come to think of it, I don't *have* a geared head... hmmm. Off to B&H ;-)

Man, I figured you'd score WAY high on this spectrum ;)

Come on Fritz... Surly you did better then that - did you count the bonus points? :-)

Well... in fact, I couldn't remember if I took a pic of this lens prior to taking a pic with it. If I include those two points, I get an 8, solidly in gearhead territory, LOL.

Oh, crap! I went and looked, and sure enough, I took the pic of the lens before I shot anything with it. Gotta take the two bonus points :-P

I got a Manfrotto geared head I'd gladly sell ya, cheap. I decided it's not for me :-)

I know that correlation does not necessarily imply causation, but my score on this test is the same as my ribbon count ... :-)

It's the Manfrotto 410, uses the QR-4 plate. #3275 -- it's been replaced, apparently, with what appears to be the virtually identical "410 Junior". So google it and that's the image you see, mine has black cover plates instead of blue is all.

Notice how the knobs have like knurled rubber on 'em? Well, that rubber or synthetic or whatever it is was starting to oxidize and split, so I carefully wrapped duct tape around 'em as a preventive measure :-} I'll take a picture to show ya. If you're interested?

Robert, I'm prolly going to be comfortable with whatever you feel is fair, plus whatever it costs to ship that hunk-o-metal, LOL. Send me an e-mail, let me know what you' like to get, let's git-r-done!

PM sent. I'm being annoying I think...

lol - Just to prove the point... Only a serious gear head could buy something in a thread about how to recognise how to be a gear head.... Your going to have to add a couple of bonus points for that :-)

SOLD! To the gentleman in the front row with the sheepish grin!

(This was an item I'd almost forgotten I owned, so this is a pretty pure example of synchronicity. :-)

Woot!

Now there is no longer any point in denying the fact of the matter. I am revealed for what I am.

You guys are all out in left field. Imagine my surprise to find out this thread had nothing to do with cars!!!

REAL gear heads expect to see something like this when the subject arises.....

Does using century old glass on current sensors qualify?

Or, maybe "Redneck Bowling" ?

Oh, I think you've made boht Gearhead lists... the traditional one that Jeb references, and the camera-centric one, LOL. BTW, that old Tessar is a thing of beauty. Wouldn't it be something to actually capture all of that image circle?
