I have a default personal mode that's aperture priority, auto ISO, auto WB, that I set my camera to when I'm just dragging it around everywhere for the grab 'n shoot shots. The rest of the time it depends on what I want to do with it. I prolly have it in my default auto mode 75% or more.

Manual only. Single shot, all settings change often to adjust for the environment (lights) and for the subject. |

M... and always M. Some think M users just bunch of wannabes, but that's not true. I just feel MUCH better if I have the total control of my camera settings, I don't want it to think for me. |

mine is waiting for dinner or all the socks to get dried whichever comes first. you could say it is an opportunist. at the moment it is sporting an old manual everything lens, so you could say it is also handy. |

Av is my most commonly used setting followed closely by M. However, whenever it is sitting idle (like now) it̢۪s in P just in case I need to shoot something very quickly. At least it will still shoot in my RAW/jpg preference and my 200 iso standby setting.
I only use the green auto mode when ever I (reluctantly) hand my camera to a family member. |

If this thread is any indication, 90% of DPC shoots full manual all the time. I don't believe it, and I don't believe IN it: the sensible way to leave a camera is at, say, ISO 200, f/8, aperture priority. So it's ready to grab and shoot at the drop of a hat. I do like shooting full manual, but I always put the baby to bed with its Av cap snugly secured around by a ribbon under its pointy little chin :-)

the question was for "right now." usually I leave mine in aperture priority, ISO 400 (these are dark times), f8, WHEN it is wearing an auto lens.

The question wasn't about what modes do you use, it was: What mode is your camera in right now?
M works great and is only slightly slower than A or T...maybe that's because I used a 35mm camera with a match needle meter for so long, I dunno.
A is good for specifying DOF
T is good for blurring or freezing motion
P and AUTO are "girlfriend" modes. I can hand it to her and have the best chance of a good exposure. (No offense to girlfriends, mine has many creative talents, but she'll be the first to tell you that photography isn't one of them.)

Mine is usually in Noob mode, but I attempt AV at times, rarely have I stuck it in the scary M mode. :) |

90% aperture priority for me, although at the moment it's on off and has been for the last week. |

Those setting would result in about 20 second exposure in the dull wintery north, mines more like 400 ISO 2.8 and 1/60 to get a useable hand held shot, lives with lens off and body cap on so fast shooting isn't going to happen hehe. Only time it sees f8 is summer or big strobes are out. Send your sun this way please :) |

I guess it depends on what you are shooting. I mostly shoot landscapes and studio pictures with controlled lights and/or with actors so I have time enough to decide my settings and that's why I use Manual mode. When I do street photography (well I almost never do it) I use aperture mode. That's only a matter of what you're doing IMHO :) |
