Are you allowed to bring a tripod to the zoo? It would definitely make shots much better.

There are never any dumb questions. Actually, I don't know. There, I don't know either. I suppose you can. Check with each individual zoo's info. In Japan, we can take tripods. |

I do here in Portland.
The Japanees Gardens here won't allow a tripod but they do allow a monopod..? Strange rule but they don't want holes in the ground. |

Thanks, I will have to write an email to the Philadelphia Zoo to see if they allow tripods =)

Every location is different. You may want to call ahead. Some places allow for tripod as long as you don't get in the way of the viewer. |

Don't know about where you are living, but I just went to the Syracuse Zoo and took my tripod. Nobody had a problem with it. |

A monopod is a good zoo compromise...much more portable. |

A lady at the Dallas zoo had a cart for all of her PRIME 300mm+ lenses and tripod and other equipment... so I think it'd be safe for me to take my tripod :-)

Tripods are ok here at the Phoenix Zoo. San Diego Zoo didn't have a problem with the monopod.
Actually I've found the monopod easier to deal with at a zoo.
